Gear Pump

  • Gear Pump

Gear pumps are positive displacement pumps that utilize the meshing motion of gears within the pump housing to generate pressure and transport fluid. Based on internal gear configurations, gear pumps are typically classified into two types: external gear pumps and internal gear pumps.

    • External gear pumps consist of two intermeshing external gears rotating in opposite directions. As the gears rotate, fluid is trapped between the gear teeth and the housing, and transported from the inlet to the outlet. These pumps are known for their simple construction, high durability, and ease of maintenance.

    • Internal gear pumps feature a smaller driving gear rotating inside a larger internal gear. A crescent-shaped divider (crescent plate) is positioned within the pump chamber to help create pressure and separate the suction and discharge sides. This design ensures smooth operation and is ideal for applications requiring low noise and precise fluid delivery.

Both types of gear pumps are widely used in various industries for transferring oils, hydraulic fluids, and other industrial liquids. They are valued for their compact size, steady output flow, and reliable performance.
